Career

Gerald Mair studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. He is profoundly influenced by the doctrine of Hans Swarowsky.

During the time working as a music teacher Mair developed educational workshops especially in the context of classical music, which aimed to inspire the younger generation.

When Gerald Mair turned 12, he decided to study double bass in addition to the piano-lessons he had already undertaken. He then learned the Viennese style of playing (Wiener Klangstil) with members of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.

Under the guidance of Alois Glaßner (Bachchor Salzburg) and Johannes Hiemetsberger (Chorus sine nomine) he learned the particularities of leading a choir.

The interest in management and culture led him to another academic degree. His master thesis focused on human resource management, in particular on the so-called Orchestra’s Academies.
