“The conductor of an orchestra does not make a sound. He depends, for his power, on his ability to make other people powerful.”

Sinfonieorchester Lienz

About the Orchestra

The symphony orchestra was founded in 2010 by Bernhard Winkler and Gerald Mair. From the outset, the goal was to encourage young musical talent, and to function as a platform for national and international performances. Aside from performing classical, romantic and modern pieces, new compositions and cross-over performance projects are on the programme.

About the Orchestra

The orchestra was founded in winter 1946. With up to 70 musicians, regular concerts take place each year with works from a wide variety of musical periods. It is an integral part of the cultural life of Lienz (Tyrol) and the only association in the area that has set itself the task of maintaining and performing symphonic literature.
